UDIMORE ARTS EXHIBITION AND SALE

This weekend the Friends of St Mary's are extremely excited about hosting an exhibition by very talented artists in and around East Sussex, some of whom live in Udimore or the Benefice. All details below.

A Lincoln Taber has been working out of his studio in Udimore for the past 16 years. he has regular exhibitions at the Russell Gallery in London, The Rye Art Gallery, Geedon Gallery Essex and participates in mixed art shows including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. He is a member of the Rye Society of Artists and has received the Prix de Rome and the Creating Reality Prize, awarded by the Royal Society of Artists. He paints urban and rural landscapes, often focusing on the unnoticed and unseen, finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Susan Taber. When not teaching pilates in the Udimore Village hall and surrounding areas, Susan finds inspiration walking and painting the Brede Valley.

Nikki Hill-Smith has returned to Sussex after a spell in Kent. She has a BA and MA from Brighton University. A contemporary painter, she is interested in how memory, landscape, and technology overlap. Her take on both abstraction as a concept and painting as a practice is a sheer visual delight. Nikki has had solo and shared exhibitions in London, Brighton and Ibizia.

Karl Terry is a Plein Air artist of both landscapes and cityscapes, across the UK and abroad. He has had the privilege of painting alongside some of the UK and USA’s finest living landscape painters and feels fortunate to consider many of them as friends. Karl is a member of The Royal Society of Marine Artists, a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and also belongs to The Wapping Group of Artists and the Rye Society of Artists. Karl lives on the Isle of Oxney in Kent, where he paints outdoors in all weathers. His work is a direct response to what he see and feels when immersed in the ever-changing landscape, and this process has helped him find beauty in even the most ordinary scenes.

Robert Greenhalf is one of the country's leading wildlife artists and is dedicated to capturing his images in the field. His passion for sketching and observing birds and animals in their own environment gives his work great freedom and a real sense of immediacy. All of his watercolours and many of his printing plates are taken from life.

Wendy Cox was educated at St Martins School of Art and the Royal Academy School. Wendy has exhibited widely in the South East and London. Since 2003 all of her work has been done outside in an area of East Sussex, a part of the Romney Marshes at Pett Level.

Rosemary Crouch has lived in Beckley since 1937, but is very much a part of Udimore village life and been actively involved in much of what happens here. Devoted to painting and sculpture, she remains an active practising artist in her 90's. Rosemary was educated at both Brighton and Eastbourne Colleges of Art and later taught at Thomas Peacock School in Rye. From 1987, Rosemary ran Hayes Lane Painters and Potters. In 1996, she established the Art Exhibition in Winchelsea and has curated numerous other exhibitions since then. She continues to organise Open House Potters and Painters, alongside her own painting practice.

Marie-Claire Grady is a local artist painting land and seascapes as well as enjoying abstract art. Marie-Claire had had work displayed in Rye and Tenterden. Marie-Claire lives in Udimore.
